Whiteout

Review (6.5/10)
(By Brendan Cullin)

Whiteout begins in 1957 with a shootout aboard a Russian cargo plane somewhere over Antarctica. The plane ends up crashing and then we jump ahead to the 21st century where U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko (Kate Beckinsale), also stationed in Antarctica, is only days away from returning to civilization after two years of being assigned to this remote location. Early in the movie Stetko jumps in the shower and unfortunately has one of the steamiest sho ...

Watchmen

Review (8.5/10)
(By Brendan Cullin)

I must admit, I’m a bit surprised by some of the bad reviews I’ve read and heard about “Watchmen”. Mind you, I’ve only read a couple of things about it and talked to one person who saw it and everyone said they weren’t crazy about it. I went into this movie knowing absolutely nothing about the movie. I’ve never read the graphic novel. I think I only saw one trailer for the movie many months ago. Even af ...

Megamind

Review (8/10)
(By Carrie Ott)

One of DreamWorks Studio’s most recent films, Megamind tells the daring tale of what happens when the villain comes out on top. When Megamind lures Roxanne Ritchie (Tina Fey) into the mix, however, things could get ugly. It is then that viewers truly go insid ...

Review (-/10)
(By Garth Franklin)

The trickiest of the Avengers line-up to translate to the screen, "Thor" deserves a lot of praise for getting right something that could have gone wrong so easily. This Marvel Studios adventure is an ambitious fantasy sci-fi epic fusing Shakespearian regal family tropes, Norse mythology, "Dune"-esque alien civilisations, Tolkien-inspired battles, and even a small dash of fish-out-of-water comedy. With big characters and even bigger producti ...

Thank You

Review (4/10)
(By Naresh Deoshi)

Welcome to director Anees Bazmee’s new ‘comedy’ Thank You that zips you away to a world where cheating hubbies try to outsmart their simpering, suspecting wives even as a flute-fiddling detective tries to catch the cheaters with their pants down.

The libidinous drive of married men has been the juice of many a Bollywood comedy and the viewers have lapped it up with the sadistic glee of someone who’s missed the acti ...
