Roadside Attractions has locked down domestic rights to writer-director Miranda July’s idiosyncratic drama "The Future" on Friday. The company is said to have made a substantial release commitment to the film after several bidders sought the property following its screening at Sundance.

Meanwhile, Focus Features has paid well under $1 million to acquire worldwide rights to filmmaker Dee Rees' "Pariah", a drama about an African American teenager in New York coming to terms with her lesbianism.

Finally, in a deal away from Sundance, Pathe International is set to distribute the Miramax-made, Guillermo del Toro-produced "Don't be Afraid of the Dark" outside of North America. Pathe will kick off sales at the EFM in Berlin next month.
