Comic Con: HBO's "Game of Thrones"

The panel for HBO's "Game of Thrones" is regularly one of the most anticipated panels of all of the convention.

Author George R.R. Martin, producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, and actors Peter Dinklage, Michelle Fairley, John Bradley, Richard Madden, Kit Harington, Rose Leslie and Emilia Clarke were all on hand to talk about the recently finished third season.

One of the more amusing sounding touches is that the panel started off with an "In Memoriam" reel, set to Boyz 2 Men, that served as a tribute to all the character deaths over the first three seasons of the show - from the major departures right down to the horses, wolves, White Walkers and random soldiers.

A brief deleted scene from the third season screened showcasing Tywin (Charles Dance) seeing through Grand Maester Pycelle (Julian Glover) and his senile old man act. The panel also got a brief surprise visit from Jason Momoa who ran in and kissed his former onscreen wife Emilia Clarke, shouting "I'm not dead George".

Martin says he is still busy writing the last two novels, and added that much of the details Robert Baratheon’s rebellion before the events in the first novel will be fully explored somewhere in these books.

When talk turned to the Red Wedding episode, actress Michelle Fairley revealed that she did twenty takes of Catelyn Stark's final scream. Producer Benioff revealed he, at one point, intended to use the series theme in that episode in place of the music "The Rains of Castamere". Ultimately the show's composer Ramin Djawadi came up with an original piece.

Filming will soon begin for the fourth season, Kit Harington saying that his Jon Snow character will stop seeking father figures and essentially "become a man" in the next season.

"Game of Thrones" returns to HBO in Spring 2014.
