Comic Con: "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes"

Director Matt Reeves along with actors Jason Clarke, Keri Russell and Andy Serkis turn up to talk about this sequel to "Rise of the Planet of the Apes".

The aim of the film is to bridge the gap between Rise and the original "Planet of the Apes". Reeves said the focus this time was to make a Caesar-centric movie that begins in the world of the apes but allows us to still connect emotionally.

In fact, the human characters are fairly secondary in this story which allows for a lot of development of the relationships in the ape community. Caesar is now ten years older, has a family, and oversees an Ape council.

The apes themselves are being played by "Cirque du Solei and parkour guys" says Clarke. Russell says Reeves has "really created a world of these two communities to survive, and each community is trying to protect its own."

Footage was then screened of mostly human scenes, with a lot of Gary Oldman’s character as the FX are still being worked on. The footage revealed that humanity spent years fighting the virus and then each other - as a result there's not much society left. The final shot shows Caesar with white war paint on his face ordering his apes to charge.
