Henry Cavill, Joss Whedon, Adam West, Val Kilmer Talk About Affleck

Everyone has had an opinion on the casting of Ben Affleck as Batman in the upcoming "Man of Steel" sequel. Now, two previous caped crusaders, Affleck's co-star, and the director behind the franchise's biggest rival have all weighed in on the story.

Adam West, the star of the 1960s Batman TV series, tweeted "Remember Ben, with the cape and cowl comes great responsibility (and lots of heat). Bring deodorant."

In a follow-up interview with Yahoo, West says: "I think he's really a splendid actor, and now he's proved his chops as a director. For Batman, I have no idea, because I'm not a Batman critic. He might have to shave his beard."

Val Kilmer, the star of 1995's "Batman Forever", had a message for the haters as he tweeted: "Give Ben a chance!"

Affleck's future co-star Henry Cavill also leapt to his defense, saying: "He is such a great actor. I'm so very excited about working with him. He is going to have such a presence. I can't wait."=

Finally, "The Avengers" director Joss Whedon says: "Affleck'll crush it. He's got the chops, he's got the chin -- just needs the material. Affleck & Cavill toe to toe -- I'm in."

Also today, a report has gone online claiming that Bryan Cranston is confirmed to be playing Lex Luthor in multiple films, though no reps for the studio or the actor have commented on the report.

Finally, a fan made trailer for the film has been getting a lot of attention. Fusing a mix of footage from "Man of Steel," "Daredevil," "Breaking Bad" and more - it shows what a Cavill/Affleck/Cranston setup might look like.
