"The Walking Dead" Returns To 16M Viewers

AMC's "The Walking Dead" continued its non-stop climb in the ratings and broke records along the way.

The fourth season premiere of the acclaimed zombie drama aired last night to the show's biggest numbers ever — an astonishing 8.2 rating among adults 18-49, and an enormous 16.1 million viewers.

That's considerably up on it's third season premiere last October which drew 10.9 million viewers, and that season's finale in March which scored 12.4 million.

That viewership also makes it the third most-watched show in all of TV over the past week - behind only CBS' ratings juggernauts "NCIS" and "The Big Bang Theory". It also took away from the competition as network shows like "The Mentalist," "The Good Wife," "Once Upon a Time" and "Revenge" hit new ratings lows.

This Live+Same Day figure is expected to jump considerably higher after time-shifting and DVR/VOD usage is taken into account.
