Michael Fassbender Talks About "Assassin's Creed"

Last year came word that actor Michael Fassbender ("Shame," "X-Men: First Class") has signed on to both produce and star in a film adaptation of Ubisoft's popular and acclaimed video game franchise "Assassin's Creed."

The natural assumption is that Fassbender was a fan of the games and wanted to get himself and his production company involved because of that. Turns out, that's not the case.

Now, out doing press for "The Counselor," Fassbender revealed to The Daily Beast that he has never actually played the game:

"['Assassin's Creed' is] definitely happening. We're just developing the script at the moment. I'd heard of it but had never played the game. I don't have a video game player... that's not what they're called [Laughs]. I met up with the guys from Ubisoft and they told me the story behind it, and I thought it was very interesting - the idea of reliving memories."

English playwright Michael Lesslie is penning the script for the film which is expected to be set in a time period and setting not seen so far in the games.
